ABSTRACT
The present study was conducted to determine if there was a relationship between college academic success and what type of high school (either public or non-public) an individual has attended. Forty-seven participants (36 women and 11 men) from introductory psychology and sociology classes were surveyed. The independent variable was the type of high school with two levels: public and non-public. The dependent variable was college academic success. Results supported the research hypothesis that there were no differences in college academic success between public and non-public high school graduates. The participants’ ratings about their study skills, approximate number of study hours spent per week on college study and desired high level degree were strong predictors of college academic success

(a)Academic standards refers to how well a

particular high school or college provides their

students with a wellrounded education.The

participants` ratings about their both their high

school and college standards wererated on a scale

of one to seven,one being their lowest rating score

while seven was the highest rating score.

(b)College satisfaction refers to how well the

participants felt abot their non-academic life in

college. The participants` ratings about their

college satisfaction were rated on a scale of zero

to six, zero being the lowestrating score while six

was the highest rating score.

(c)Study skills refers to how confident the

participants felt about their study habits in

college. The participants`ratings abot their study

skills were rated on a scale of zero to six, zero

being the lowest rating score while six was the

highest rating score.

(d)Desired high level degree refers to how many

college degrees that a participant is striving to

obtain.
